FAMILY & CHILDREN’S SERVICE
"I believe in what they do."
Founded in 1909, Family & Children’s Service is the oldest private nonprofit social service agency in Monmouth County, N.J. FCS offers a wide array of programs and services that address homelessness, neglect, abuse, exploitation, adult protective services, health and respite care, childhood literacy, long-term care planning, and financial instability due to physical, developmental or mental disabilities. FCS partners with many organizations and government agencies, but in many cases is the sole county-designated provider of these services and the last hope for individuals, families and seniors in crisis.
YPTC came recommended to Family & Children’s Service by way of FCS’s auditor, and Chief Executive Officer Lou Schwarcz has been very pleased with the work ever since. “They have expertise in nonprofit fiscal management and we found them to be very helpful when we had an audit that needed some corrective actions,” he recalls. “They figured out a plan and got us through the next audit which came out clean.”
Two YPTC staff are assisting the organization. “They’re extremely accessible and proactive in making changes in the department, improving our processes and providing quality control of our books. They’re responsive and the monthly reports they prepare for our board of directors are complete and easy to understand.
“We’re very happy with their services,” he adds. “I believe in what they do.”
