Crisis Text Line
"They just stepped in and got it done…."
Based in New York, Crisis Text Line is a free, 24/7 support service for people in crisis. Trained volunteer crisis counselors have received more than 80 million text messages from people experiencing a wide range of crises, from suicide ideation, anxiety and depression to bullying, domestic violence and sexual assault, and helped them move from “a hot moment to a cool calm.” Through effective, active listening and suggested referrals on Crisis Text Line’s secure and confidential platform, individuals in crisis can text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the U.S. and will get a response, usually within five minutes. The organization is growing rapidly from its conception in 2013.
“I’m happy to say nice things about Your Part-Time Controller,” says Founder & CEO Nancy Lublin. “They really helped us out when we were in a pinch.”
Actually, YPTC came to the rescue on two separate and unexpected occasions when staff finance people left the organization. “YPTC came in and fixed things up. The second time they not only had to do the reports for the board but also closed out one year and did the budget for the next year. They just stepped in and got it done. They were expensive and worth every penny.”
Lublin is appreciative of the YPTC concept. “It’s such a great idea for a niche business,” she adds. She is particularly impressed with YPTC’s corporate culture of honesty. “They recommended that we hire our own full-time staff people, which we did,” she says. “They weren’t trying to exact as much money out of us as possible. I respect that: it’s an honest way to run a business.”
